On your sport…
How long have you played? What inspired you to play?
I have played volleyball since I was in sixth grade; I am really into playing sports so I was excited to try something new.
Where is your favorite place to play (compete)?
My favorite place to play is in the Vandament Arena, it’s our home court. I just like that it’s a volleyball “only” gym and we are able to fit a lot of people into it without it seeming super small. I also like the atmosphere that our home court brings.
What is your favorite number? Why?
My favorite number is 7. It’s always been lucky, it’s the day of my birthday and I had it for the two best years of club for me.
Who is the best player you’ve played WITH and AGAINST?
The best player that I played against is Brittney Dolgner; she just finished her senior season at UW-Madison. I played against her in high school. I don’t think I could pick out a player that I played with that was the best, all of the players I have played with have been really good.
Do you have a pre-game ritual? If so, what is it?
Before every game I like to listen to music and usually have a dance party with the team, to get us pumped up.
If you didn’t play your sport, what sport would you play?
If I didn’t play volleyball I would probably end up playing basketball, because I would have had time for it.
What is the worst experienced you’ve had? What did you learn from it?
The worst experience I probably had was just certain deaths to family and friends. It made me realize that you don’t have a lot of time in your life so live your life to the fullest.
Have you ever had an injury while performing your sport?
Just a couple strained muscles that keep me out a couple of days.
What do you consider as your greatest accomplishment?
My greatest accomplishment is getting a scholarship to play at Northern Michigan University, and earning a starting spot as a freshman.
What is your most memorable moment? Why?
My most memorable moment is making it to nationals for club volleyball for two years. It was just such a fun accomplishment and a good experience.
How has your sport helped you become who you are today?
My sport has made me realize that I have to work hard for everything that I do and then soon things will fall into place.
How has your family reacted to all of your sporting success?
My family has really supported me through all of my success, they are my biggest fans. They are also there for me when things start to get tough; they help me push through the tough spots.
Behind your sport…
What do you enjoy doing in your spare time?
I really enjoy just relaxing during my free time. My life can get so busy sometime that it is just nice to walk around outside and listen to music. I also like spending time with my family and friends.
Name 3 Fun Facts about yourself that people may not know.
I am a twin, I have hiked the Grand Canyon, and my parents used to own a bakery.
Do you have a pet peeve? If so, what is it?
My biggest pet peeve is people walking slowly and then suddenly stopping, I have really long legs and I am used to walking with my teammates who walk fast too.
Facebook or Twitter?
Ps3, Xbox or neither?
Neither but if I had to chose Xbox
What is your favorite part about college?
My favorite part about college is meeting new people and learning more about subjects that I enjoy.
My Own Self, At My Very Best, All the Time
Who is the most influential person you’ve met? Why?
The most influential person I met is probably a family friend his name was Albert. He died a couple of summers ago, but he helped other people turn their life around. He died of terminal liver cancer and when I talked to him before he died he was very optimistic and realized that it was his time. He always wanted to brighten someone’s day too, and that’s what I loved about him. It was also nice to see someone take such a hard time in their life in such an optimistic way.
What do you value the most?
I value my friends and family the most; they have always been there for me through my worst and best, and still loved me all the same.
I am majoring in Sports Science, but I plan on going to graduate school for Occupational Therapy. I chose this because I love working with the human body and I love helping other people.
Outside of your sport, what are your visions/goals in life?
Outside of my sport, I plan on graduating and going onto graduate school. I want to also be successful and happy in life. In the future I want to have a family and coach my kids and other kids for volleyball.

I see myself getting out of graduate school and getting a new job and soon starting a family after that.
