On your sport…

How long have you basketball? What inspired you to start playing?
I started playing when I was 4 yrs old; my older cousin played and I wanted to do everything he did so I started playing ball and haven’t stopped since.

Where is your favorite place to play?
At my school, we have some of the best pickup games in the nation.

What is your favorite number? Why?
My favorite number is 5. It’s my birthday, and when I was younger, I loved Magic Johnson and watched a lot of his old games. He was also my favorite player at the time but I wanted my own number so I added his “3+2” together and just stuck with 5.

Who is the best player you’ve played WITH and AGAINST?
The best player that I have played with would be Jrue Holiday (Philadelphia 76ers), there’s nothing he can’t do on the court. And I would say Carmelo Anthony (Denver Nuggets) would be the best player I have played against.

Do you have a pre-game ritual? If so, what is it?
I pray before every game.

What made you choose UCLA?
I always loved UCLA basketball growing up as a kid. I also wanted my family to be at all my games so that’s another reason why I chose to come here.

What is the worst experienced you’ve had? What did you learn from it?
The worst experience I have had was when I got into a huge fight with my mom and wanted to leave the house and all that and my relationship with her was essentially over for about a month. I learned that I need that woman more than anyone in the world and that family is the most important thing in life.

Have you ever had an injury while playing?
Yes I have pulled my groin a few times; it hurts.

What do you consider as your greatest accomplishment?
I would say getting a scholarship to play basketball and getting my education paid for so my parents wouldn’t have to.

What is your most memorable moment? Why?
My most memorable moment would be when I was in high school I had a game where I got 5 steals and 5 dunks in a row against our rival school. They were screaming overrated before the first steal and after the last dunk they were dead quiet.

How has basketball helped you become who you are today?
Without basketball, I really don’t know where I would be right now in my life. Through this sport I have done things that I would have never had the opportunity to do if I didn’t play. The adversity that happens in every game directly correlates to adversity in life and ball has taught me how to deal with that.

How has your family reacted to all of your sporting success?
My parents and family are the most proud people in the world of me. They have been there every step of the way and have worked hard for me to get where I am at so they are just as grateful as I am.

What separates you from everyone else in life?
I know I am my own man and I have my own opinion, and because of my faith I know that no one can take that away from me.

 Behind your sport…

What do you enjoy doing in your spare time?
I enjoy kickin it with my friends and fam, playing Nba 2k, it’s serious, and going to the driving range with my little bros when I can.

Name 3 Fun Facts about yourself that people may not know.
I like to watch cooking shows with my mom, I don’t know where my birthmark is or if I have one, My clothes have to match at all times.

Do you have a pet peeve?
None that I can think of.

Facebook or Twitter?
Facebook

What is your favorite movie? TV Show?
My favorite movie is Training Day, and TV show would be a tie between Entourage and The Boondocks.

Ps3, Xbox or neither?
Xbox

What is your favorite part about college?
Playing ball. And at one point the girls.. Ya boy is wifed up now tho.

What is the first thing you notice about people?
Their swag or style, shallow but true.

What do you value the most?
My family

What is your major? Why did you choose it?
Sociology and because I thought it was easy but in college nothing really is.

Is there anything that you regret or would take back in your life?
I live my life with no regrets.

Outside of basketball, what are your visions/goals in life?
I would like to have a beautiful family, own or invest in a restaurant, and be a millionaire.

Describe yourself in two words
Laid Back

Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
Playing Ball professionally.

 Final thoughts…

How do you feel about being the Dorm Rumor?
I feel pretty cool to be a part of this and hope it continues to grow.

What are your thoughts about Mylan Murphy?
A fellow baller, homie, and a dude that’s on his grind!

Name 5 things you would like to accomplish by the age of 30
Be a millionaire, have 3 kids and a wife, own a restaurant, go skydiving, and buy my parents a house.

What will you continue to Strive4?
I will continue to strive4 excellence and trying to be great as ball player, person, and man.

What advice do you have to anyone reading your story?
Everything that you have to struggle for is worth it and tough times happen for a reason; its’ what you do during those times that really show and prove who you are.
